Richard Jones - Minister of Music -

Richard is a native of Huntington, West Virginia, and a professional musician who has been playing the piano since the age of three.  He began his experience in public performance at the age of 4 within his large family church and presented his first public concert at the age of 6.  In his early youth he played for multiple choral workshops and even his intended high-school chorus. During this time Richard also studied organ and was privileged to the tutelage of respected members of the American Guild of Organists, of which Richard is a proud member. At age 16 Richard was appointed to his first choir directorship giving him 27 years of church music leadership experience. Once moving to California he traveled for Nordstrom Department Stores playing holiday music in several of their larger locations. He has performed at other events such as bridal fashion shows and clothing line premieres.  Richard has performed at special events such as the American Gospel Music Convention and at "Fanfest"(a pre-event to the American Country Music Awards featuring performances by the industry's top performers).  Richard has also enjoyed nearly 10 years of musical instrument retail and management experience. Richard and his partner are very exited about their future here at St. Paul's.  The congregation is even more excited about them!

His vision for our Church is "seeing it as not only a well-known spiritual center and strong hold in the South Bay, but also as a well-known and respected music center.  Whether a person who has never sung one note in a choir or played one note on an instrument or a top musician in Southern California...St. Paul's needs to be the place for you to be!"

I was born in Pittsburgh, PA, and moved to California in the early 60's, so I'm pretty much a "California Girl." My parents both came from Italy so I've been emersed in the Italian culture and California life. What a great combination. Raised in the Catholic church,  I attended St. Anthony's grammar school in Gardena and Bishop Montgomery in Torrance. Except for a two-year stint in Florence, Italy, I've lived in Gardena for most of my life.

I found St. Paul's through dear friends Jerry and Jerry, longtime member of St. Paul's. I immediately felt a sense of family and fellowship. It may be a small church but it has a big heart and people who respect and care for each other. I've often described it as a small country-type church in a big city. As a member of St. Paul's one can get involved and make a difference in their church and community.
