Property Team – Interior lights
At one of our last worship services in the church building, in February 2020, we noticed that Susan was having possible issues seeing the piano keyboard. Dee went up to inquire further, and discovered the lights were burned out over the piano. Further, there was another fixture over the congregation that was also burned out. There are a total of 10 overhead fixtures, so having two burned out is significant.
Gus sprung into action. He found the bulbs that we had left from the education building light replacement. He pulled the TALL ladder out and discovered that the ballast was bad. He was able to re-wire that fixture and replace with 2 LED bulbs. Evaluating the 2nd fixture – that ballast was also bad, and we only had 1 more LED bulb. Gus ordered enough LED bulbs for that fixture and the rest of the sanctuary, given 2 ballast failures.
Soon after, the covid19 virus health restrictions, and we stopped going to worship in the church building. However, it was a good time to install lights, as you don’t have to put all the equipment away if you don’t finish the job in one day! Over the course of 2 more visits, all the ballasts were replaced and the church is MUCH brighter now with LED lights. We are also using less electricity, as the LED lights are more energy efficient than the fluorescent bulbs we had
