Blessings to all of my Beloved followers of Christ! May God’s favor find you in every moment!

In the unknown of our everyday lives, we look to God for guidance and purpose. It seems as if most days are a mystery lately. We look for stability and peace. We look for a loving heart to guide us. But too often we find ourselves staring at a screen feeding us more confusion, more distrust and anger. We turn away and avoid the heartache, but we are God’s children, we have a role to play in the carnage of our world and have a need for information. To be informed. Whatever your preferred method of receiving information, it is all tainted truth or tainted falsehood. It is for us as educated individuals to make our own discernment of what we see or hear. But hear the Good News. You want to be informed? Listen to God. God has been on the air for far longer than any of us. And God has seen it all. God’s loving heart is what leads us.

Yesterday, we enjoyed our worship service with a bit of twist. Our hymns were presented in Bluegrass style. Diane and Dan accompanied the Bluegrass Block Party Band. What a blast! All of you chimed in with tambourines and voice and we rocked the house St. Paul’s style. Many of you walked or maybe skipped into Steven’s Hall singing “Down By The Riverside” as we joined each other for lunch and good talk. Our hope is to have the boys back soon. Thank you guys!

The bad news on our screens didn’t change, but maybe we did. With a song in your heart, a lot of good can come with it.

We don’t have to look far to find joy in this creation of God. It is all around us. I just left meeting and sharing Communion with Johnny Irwin this afternoon. Johnny at 103 years old is doing remarkably well. We shared stories of our lives and adventures. She reads her Bible everyday and talks with God. She asked God recently why am I still here?  Well, Johnny is still doing work for the Lord. That’s why. She is my inspiration to live every day well. To love well. To bring peace to others and to share those gifts with others. Her smile and her great attitude brings us all a gift, a gift we all need.

My prayer for all of you this week is for you to share your life with one another. Bring a bright light into a room and let it shine on all people. You want to change the darkness in our world? Shine your light like Johnny. That is why we are all still here.

BLESSINGS

                                      Pastor John
